Résumé
Group Concept Mapping (GCM) is a well-known and widely used tool to enhance evaluation design, implementation, and measurement. Ideal for seeking and valuing the voices of community members in planning and evaluation development and conduct, GCM connects the knowledge of the community with well-regarded mixed methods methodology to yield community-specific frameworks on issues of relevance, that are supported by a strong foundation of proven methods. This workshop is for researchers and evaluators with some previous Group Concept Mapping familiarity; or experience in planning, evaluation, or group decision making.
As an intermediate level training, the workshop links the philosophy and practice of GCM to Community based participatory research (or community-authored research). It extends and builds upon basic GCM skills and practices, focuses on enhancing skills for analysis, production of results, and utilization of results in an evaluation and planning framework.

Mary Kane and Michael Huffman
Through consulting, project management, coaching and facilitation, each facilitator has supported large scale national, state and smaller local projects using group concept mapping. Ms. Kane co-authored the book Concept Mapping for Planning and Evaluation, as well as various articles on Group Concept Mapping.
Ms. Kane is a co-author of the Concept Systems training, a 2 day workshop to prepare researchers to use the Concept System in their own work. She has led that workshop over 75 times, training hundreds of people in a variety of settings. Mr. Huffman has also facilitated sections of that workshop a number of times. Ms. Kane has also conducted full day professional development workshops on group concept mapping at past American Evaluators Association (AEA) conferences.

Pré-requis
Attendees need some basic knowledge of the specific research method being described, but need not have in-depth knowledge or skills. Participants should have some knowledge regarding action research and group participatory research. The workshop will focus on knowledge or skills that build on the basics of participatory research in context.
